HOMEWORK
Math: An optional challenge packet will be sent home monthly.
Spelling: Students are given a list of words that follow our Letterland rule/pattern for the week.
Reading: Read at least 20 minutes nightly using a book from home. Books from my classroom library are available for students to take home if needed. Discuss the characters, setting, plot (beginning, middle, end), problem solution, and your connection with an adult or older student when reading together.
COMMUNICATION
Students will have a folder with a calendar and communication log. You may write a note on the log, or email me at [email protected]. On Tuesdays a folder will come home with information from the school, PTA, etc, and current school work and assessments.
Special Events
Birthdays are always a special time. If you would like to provide an appropriate snack for the class on your child’s birthday, please help us by following the guidelines below:
1. Notify the teacher before the day and check for any possible allergy or other health concerns.
2. We prefer individually wrapped snacks such as a box of Fruit Roll-Ups, Rice Krispy Treats, bags of “goldfish”, fruit, or popsicles.
3. Please DO NOT send any items that need to be cut, specifically cakes or decorated cookies.
4. We can not have a “party” to recognize a birthday, but can have children share their special snack at LUNCH time. You are welcome to come and pass out the treat then.
Supplies/Personal Belongings
Please check periodically with your child to insure that they have the necessary school supplies. Glue sticks, pencils, and colored pencils are used frequently and need to be replenished. Students are asked to keep personal items and toys at home unless it is a special sharing time.
Student Information/Absences
Please return your child’s locator and information forms as soon as possible. If your child is taking any medication at school, please make sure that the proper forms are on file in the office. A note or Email to the teacher can also be used. Illness is the primary excused absence. Most family events and special trips are considered unexcused. Please make sure that your child makes up any work they miss during an absence. Having your child to school on time is also important in helping your child’s routine. Please let us know if your child will be leaving early for any special appointments. You will need to sign your child out in the office in order for us to release them from class.
